Architects & Designers: Why You Need Tunable Lighting In Your Next Project

HTA Resource Content

The lighting industry has seen more innovation in the last few years than in its 130 year-old history. Lighting is now technology and science based, and features and benefits such as Lighting Tunability and Circadian Wellness applications are leading the way in delivering better, healthier, and more efficient lighting solutions. These great advancements are delivering better lighting to the homeowner and are significantly driving value in the client/specifier relationship.

Lighting Tunability, The Gift

Architects, Designers and Specifiers are constantly challenged with the predictable changes that occur throughout a project. Tunable lighting removes the great obstacle of choosing the right lighting/kelvin temperature* at the outset. Changes to colors, textures and materials can dramatically affect the end-result of lighting, and lighting tunability is the answer. Allowing for the selection of the perfect color temperature at a press of a button, Specifiers are now able to deliver their vision once the project is completed.

* Color temperature is a way to describe the light appearance provided by a light source, such as a light bulb/lamp. It is measured in degrees of Kelvin (K) on a scale from 1,000 to 10,000. The lower the number, the ‘warmer’ the light. Higher numbers give ‘cooler’ light. “Warm white” lamps are typically 2700K or less, and “daylight” lamps are typically 5000K.
