Home Technology Association Announces Collaboration with Interior Design Society (IDS)

The Home Technology Association (HTA) and IDS partner to bring mutual benefits to members and bridge the gap between industry groups.

IDS-National-Logo-CMYKSanta Monica, CA (September 24, 2021) – The Home Technology Association (HTA)—the resource for qualified and professional home technology professionals—announces a mutually-beneficial collaboration initiative with the IDS (Interior Designer Society). Through this new arrangement, HTA will provide IDS members access to HTA’s robust library of educational resources, including articles, webinars, and videos that has proven beneficial in educating, inspiring, and engaging architects, designers, and specifiers. In turn, IDS will help spread the word about the importance of using HTA Certified home technology integrators.

The Interior Design Society (IDS) is one of the country's largest design organizations dedicated to serving the residential interior design industry. They are a group of like-minded professionals interested in broadening their network, professional development, and continued education. IDS offers its members a place to belong within a supportive and welcoming design community through local chapters nationwide and a Virtual Chapter. Learn more about the Interior Design Society at

“We are thrilled to forge this relationship with IDS as it solidifies initiatives we have been working on since the HTA’s inception: To bridge the gap between the design-build and integration communities and to become a valued and go-to resource for interior designers. Technology is an ever more important aspect of our lives, especially at home, and the Home Technology Association was created to be a key resource to designers and building professionals. The HTA helps interior designers and homeowners find the industry’s best home technology integration firms that know how to blend and hide technology into a home’s interiors in ways that augment, not clash, with the interior designer’s vision,” says Josh Christian, CEO of HTA. “We look forward to creating meaningful opportunities for both our memberships moving forward!”

“IDS recognizes the importance of technology in our everyday lives, no more than ever. We are excited to partner with HTA to further educate our interior designer members on how to incorporate technology services and products into their projects,” said Jenny Cano, Executive Director of IDS. “We hope to strengthen the relationship between our industries.”

This new collaboration—in addition to its newly structured relationship with Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA)—is one of a series HTA will make over the coming months as it seeks to align more deeply with associations and organizations from both the home technology industry and adjacent trades. The HTA advocates that all certified technology integrators join their local IDS chapters as Industry Partners and build personal interior designer relationships. A recent HTA poll indicated that only 31% of interior designers have a reputable technology partner relationship and many are looking to find a great technology partner.
