FAQ - How is HTA Certification different from Cinergy Certified?

HTA Certified and Cinergy Certified are separate credentials with different qualification models.

HTA Certification is an independently administered company certification process. HTA verifies professional references, insurance and licensing, business reputation, technical competence, customer service and aftercare, and other qualification criteria before approving a firm. Qualified companies are also classified as Foundation, Luxury, or Estate based on their demonstrated project capabilities.

Cinergy Certified is a membership-based designation built around Cinergy’s six-pillar standard, annual company attestation, and peer review. Cinergy’s published standards state that the information is self-reported and that Cinergy does not independently audit, investigate, or verify its members’ attestations.

Both credentials may recognize respected integration firms, but they do not provide the same level of independent verification. Homeowners and design professionals should understand how each credential is earned before relying on it.
