With the introduction of new GE Proseo lighting control, lighting fixtures, and shades, Savant is excited to bring the trusted GE brand into the luxury residential market. Savant acquired GE Lighting, now a Savant company, in 2020 and has been working to bring elevated solutions to market under the new GE Proseo brand.
With a portfolio that brings together the hardware expertise of GE Lighting, a Savant company, and Savant’s best-in-class software and user interface, GE Proseo is poised to deliver unique solutions perfectly crafted for the discerning homeowner. The GE Proseo product family includes connected and wireless lighting control solutions, new wireless fixtures, plus motorized shades for every window.
This fall, Savant is introducing a new lineup of GE Proseo products, and we had the opportunity to connect with Greg Barrett, Director of Product Management, to gain his insight into the evolving lighting control and fixture market.
The fixtures market has experienced a huge technology upheaval over the last decade. What has this meant for companies like Savant & GE Lighting, a Savant company?
Barrett: As fixtures have become more dynamic, with the ability to go beyond on/off and dim, the lighting controls solutions have had to keep pace. Now that we have tunable fixtures and full color fixtures becoming the norm in residential construction, we must have easy-to-use interfaces to tune that color. We can also build lifestyle and wellness experiences onto the technology, including features like Savant’s Daylight mode, which allows for a full circadian experience without the need for expensive and complex programming.
Of the products you have worked on this past year, what do you find most exciting?
Barrett: We have many new innovations in the works that I can’t wait to talk about in the new year, including a communications protocol that will deliver unified communication across Savant & GE Lighting’s wireless and connected lighting control dimmers and switches, downlights, light strips, smart bulbs, and even shade motors.
This year, we have introduced a variety of new solutions, from fixtures to control to shades. One of my favorites is the all-new GE Proseo undercabinet fixture family. This product has already been recognized with multiple industry awards, featuring a slim, edge-lit profile and glare-reducing prismatic optics that evenly distribute light across the surface of any countertop without the glare or hot spots typical of most undercabinet lighting.
Do you see the technology evolution that is happening in the lighting space being reserved primarily for the luxury client?
Barrett: The luxury market will always be a space where we can deliver true innovation, including unique product form factors, premium specifications, and custom-made, bespoke solutions. In 2026, we have new wireless keypad styles and finishes coming, as well as all-new shading solutions that include pocket and fascia installation.
However, we also see an opportunity to deliver top-tier features to a growing number of homes. With the new GE Proseo Flex, we can deliver an elevated, entry-level lighting control solution that is perfect for both new construction and retrofit applications. GE Proseo Flex lighting control includes multiple dimmer and switch options, including a wireless keypad and a hybrid dimmer/keypad that includes three programmable buttons plus raise/lower.
Outside of Savant and GE Proso, is there anything exciting you recommend specifiers, designers, and technology professionals pay special attention to?
Barrett: We will start to see more and more AI-Driven Automation and Personalization, delivering more than just novelty features. You will see foundational elements like learned system preferences, automated routines, and true health and wellness integrated into the home. Savant is at the forefront of this development, delivering features both at the installation level and throughout the homeowner experience.
